Family and Human Studies 1500 - Lifespan Human Development
For this class I was instructed to observe people of different age groups. I was supposed to compare my findings to the findings in the book. There were many things I was looking for in these observations such as height, weight, coordination, temperment, and where they compare to other children in these areas.

Reflective Writing
This assignment was really interesting to me. I took this class to learn more about children. I wanted to know how they should be progressing, what things I should be teaching when, the different learning stages they would be going through, and I wanted to use these things to be a better mother. The observations we participated in and reported back on were very interesting to me. There are many things going on with children that could easily go unnoticed. I am very glad I took the time to do these observations so I could see the "normal" way children interact and ways to influence my own children as they go through these things. I didn't feel like this assignment was challenging except for finding the time away from my own child to do it. I actually enjoyed observing the children and comparing the things I saw to the things I read in the book.
I picked this assignment as my signature assignment because I think these assignments were the ones that helped me relate the class to the real world. I felt like the things I learned throught the observations were things I could actually apply in my life to help myself as well as my children through the transitions we will be experiencing. These assignments illustrated the progression I have had in this class by showing the many things I noticed about the children that ordinarily I wouldn't. In the past if I would have noticed any of these things I wouldn't know if that was something that was "normal" or "abnormal" for that age group of children. I enjoyed being able to see these things.
